  • Fundraising Team Volunteer Assistant

    The position is on an available bases and is located at ALEA Bridge main office, the position will be reporting to the Fundraising Coordinator. The volunteer position is essential to the efficient operation of the fundraising team. The volunteer position is required to work closely with the Fundraising Team, sharing tasks such as recording donations and thanking donors, and learning the other’s role in order to provide a seamless donor care service. This position has a particular focus on fundraiser development & implementation.
    Key Duties and Responsibilities:● Thank you letters and materials are sent in response to all donations from individuals, organizations and fundraisers. ● Works closely with Fundraising Team to ensure that income is accurately counted and that all new donors are recorded on to the database. ● Share the support of individuals, groups and community organizations fundraising for ALEA Bridge with the Fundraising Team, providing support materials as required and developing good relationships that encourage them to work with the ALEA Bridge again in future. ● Follow up mailings to new members and donors, mail merging template letters and coordinating office-based mailings. ● Follow up communication with direct donors to encourage them to reconsider or to continue to support us in a different way.● Coordinate and make administrative calls to new ALEA Bridge donors.● Assist with raffle and prize led fundraising as required.
    Shared Duties and Responsibilities:● Support as required on stewardship of celebration fundraisers.● Encourage use of donating platforms on Facebook, Paypal & website.
    Essential Skills and Experience:● Excellent organizational and administrative skills.● IT literacy including a working knowledge of data input and ability to use Word and Excel.
    Essential Knowledge and Qualifications:● Educated to A level standard or with equivalent experience
    Essential Competencies:● Knowledgeable of accuracy and attention to detail● Excellent standard of written English● The ability to develop and maintain relationships, with good interpersonal skills especially by phone● Ability to listen and deal sympathetically with recently bereaved callers● Ability to manage a varied and busy workload to sometimes tight deadlines● Flexibility to work with and support ALEA Bridge across the organization

  • Community Resource Fair & Foodbank Volunteer Assistant

    Our Community Resource Fair & Foodbank Volunteer Assistant is vital to our programs. Reporting will be to the Foodbank Distribution Coordinator & Team. Basic work includes ensuring that a developed food bank program is taken forward through help and assistance in distributing food items to the community.
    As a Community Resource Fair & Foodbank Volunteer, you will handle partial outreach activities, as well as some paperwork related to handling report submissions.
    Community Resource Fair & Food Bank Volunteer Assistant Qualifications:● High school diploma or a GED equivalent encouraged but not required Previous volunteer experience in a similar capacity always welcome● Excellent organizational skills and a great ability to communicate effectively with people from all walks of life are great virtues.
    Key Duties & Responsibilities:● Assist distribution team in receiving and unloading food packets from delivery trucks, and ensure that they are properly put away in storage areas.● Ensure that food items are properly rotated so that they remain fresh until the time that they need to be served.● Welcome the community of the assigned foodbank, and check their names and/or sign them in to the sign in list.● Distribute food items to the community accessing the food support program.● Prepare food distribution rooms, and stock and stack items in an orderly manner.● Ensure that food quality is maintained through appropriate sorting activities, and communicate any issues to the distribution team.● Create and submit reports of all distributed items, and ensure that all interactions with participants are kept confidential.

  • Outreach Volunteer Assistant

    ALEA Bridge is seeking dynamic volunteers to fill a critical role in assisting the day-to-day operations of the Homeless Outreach Team. This volunteer position reports to the Case Management & Outreach Operations team.
    The homeless outreach team promotes programs and resources to homeless individuals in the community and performs a variety of services to encourage homeless individuals to participate in programs that get them housed and enable them to remain housed and stable.
    Volunteers receive close supervision from the outreach team. ALEA Bridge employees work a non-traditional work week that includes evening hours and may require weekend work. Work is performed both in an office under normal working conditions and in neighborhood parks, side streets, open agricultural lots, open fields, near streams, in the forest where volunteers may be exposed to hot/cold unstable weather, rough terrain and outdoors. Work requires physical and mental fit capabilities.
    Job Description & Responsibilities Include but not limited to:● Visits communities and canvasses neighborhoods.● Acquaints homeless individuals with and provides assistance encourage utilization of community services; explains and reinforces services resources available to persons needing special assistance, including social, health or other programs that offer resources and provide services to the homeless.● Develops a relationship with homeless individuals through frequent visits to foster, supports and encourages participation in programs.● Processes applications or registration forms for services; may complete client demographic logs and other statistical information.● Visits with homeless individuals on the street and confers about obstacles preventing participation in program and means of overcoming those obstacles.● Maintains computerized log of daily activities and completes simple reports and other forms.● Researches community resources that benefit homeless individuals and enhance services provided by community program.● Performs related work as required.
    Position Requirements:● English proficiency● Knowledge of available community resources.● Knowledge of community neighborhoods and areas populated by homeless individuals.● Thorough knowledge of reference and research methods and techniques used in collecting, compiling and organizing data.● Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with co-workers, clients and the general public.● Ability to maintain activity logs, prepare statistical reports and complete simple forms.● Demonstrated ability to prepare and present ideas and information clearly yet concisely.● Ability to communicate effectively.● Ability to understand and explain community resources and services that provide assistance to the homeless.● Ability to motivate others.● Ability to research community resources.
    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:● High School Diploma
